Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 28, 2026

Anonymous Santa Clauses, a project of Ugly Unicorn (“us”, “we”, or “our”), operates gnomik.me (the “Service”). This page explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Terms not defined here have the meaning given in our Terms and Conditions.

Information We Collect

  • Email address, used to sign you in with a magic link and to send you emails about your account and parties.
  • Name, which you choose. It is shown to the other participants of parties you join.
  • Party information: parties you host or join, your wishlist details if you add any, and the gift assignment you receive once the dice are rolled.
  • Technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and request times, which our servers and hosting providers process routinely to deliver and secure the Service.

We do not ask for passwords or payment details, and we do not sell your data.

Cookies and Browser Storage

We do not use cookies to track you, and we do not use advertising or analytics cookies. To keep you signed in, the Service stores a sign-in token and a copy of your basic profile in your browser’s local storage. This is strictly necessary for the Service to work, is never used to track you, and is removed when you sign out or clear your browser data. Because we use only what is strictly necessary, we do not show a cookie consent banner.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see how fast pages load. It sets no cookies, does not collect your email address or name, and does not follow you across visits or other websites.

How We Use Your Data

  • to provide and maintain the Service, including signing you in and assigning gift recipients;
  • to email you the links and notifications you ask for, and to tell you about changes to the Service;
  • to provide support;
  • to count visits and see how fast pages load, without cookies (see Cookies and Browser Storage);
  • to keep the Service secure and to detect, prevent and address technical issues.

Who Can See Your Data

  • Other participants in your parties can see your name. Only you can see who you were assigned.
  • Service providers that host the Service and send email on our behalf process data only to perform those services for us.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose data where required by law, to protect rights, property or safety, or to prevent or investigate wrongdoing.

Where Your Data Is Processed

We operate from Canada. The Service runs on Cloudflare’s global network, so your data may be stored and processed in data centres in Canada or other countries, often the ones closest to you. Our email provider may also process data outside your country. We take reasonable steps to make sure your data is treated securely and in line with this policy, wherever it is located.

Retention and Deletion

  • Delete your account yourself from your profile page. Deleting removes your account and the parties you host that have not yet rolled the dice.
  • Deleted parties are hidden from everyone and kept for one day so the host can restore them, then removed.
  • We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires.

Your Rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can change your name and email on your profile page. For anything else, contact [email protected]. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

The Service may link to sites we do not operate. We have no control over their content or privacy practices and advise you to review their policies.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. For material changes we will also notify you by email or with a notice on the Service before they take effect.
